Hero ZQ310 and ZQ310 PLUS Firmware Update

 

The Zebra ZQ310 printer firmware update is a complex process that requires a knowledgeable user to perform. It involves downloading, installing, and unzipping the required software, connecting the printer, and updating the firmware. The process requires a Microsoft-based Windows computer, a ZQ310 USB charging cable, the Firmware update utility called ZDownloader, and the Firmware update V81.20.25Z.zip file. The firmware is in a zipped file that should be unzipped before installation.

Updating the Firmware on the Zebra ZQ310 Printers

The firmware update should be performed by someone experienced with updating the firmware on electronic devices. The firmware requires that the printer be fully charged and that a roll of paper be installed prior to starting the update.

Description

Ensuring that your Zebra ZQ310 and ZQ310 PLUS have the latest version of the firmware ensures that the printer is optimized for use with changing security protocols used when connecting your ZQ310 or ZQ310 PLUS by Bluetooth to Apple iOS devices and Samsung Android Devices.

Updating the firmware has 3 basic steps:

Step 1: Downloading, installing, and unzipping the required software.
Step 2: Connecting the Printer and using the Firmware utility to discover the printer
Step 3: Updating the firmware.

Requirements

Communication with printer and ability to send files/commands to the printer as well as the firmware file to upgrade the unit.

You will require the following:

• A Microsoft based Windows Computer
• The USB charging Cable
• The Firmware update Utility called ZDownloader
• The Firmware update .zip file that contains the firmware image

Overview

Step 1:  Install the Firmware Downloader Utility
Note: Both the Firmware Utility and Firmware Update can be downloaded from the links below. The firmware is in a zipped file and should be unzipped prior to installing the utility itself.

 

• CLICK "Next" to proceed and accept the EULA agreement

• Put a checkmark in "I accept the terms of the license agreement"
• Click  "Next" 

• Click "Next" to begin the installation of the Firmware Downloader Utility
• Click "Finish"
  
  NOTE: You may get a request from your computer to allow a firewall pass-thru for this software, please click "ALLOW"

Step 2: Connecting the Printer and using the Firmware utility to discover the printer

• Start the program called "FirmwareDownloader"
• Click "Printer"
• Scroll down and Click "Auto-Detect
• The ZQ310 Printer will automatically be discovered in USB Mode and will be named Printer #1
  Note: Ensure that Printer is powered on and connected to the Computer using the USB charging cable.
  
  

Step 3: Updating the firmware

• Right click on "Printer#1"
• Press "Select Firmware File" from the Window Dialogue Box
• Browse to the folder where the firmware file called "V81.20.25Z.zpl" or "v101.21.39Z" was previously downloaded and unzipped.
  

• Right click on "Printer#1"
  Note: to the right of the
• Press "Download To Selected"
  
• Wait for the firmware to finish
• The printer will reboot when the firmware has been downloaded and print a new configuration label.

• The printer is now ready to use
