Selecting the correct Active Terms at the beginning of a school year or semester is critical. These settings ensure that student schedules, teacher rosters, and attendance data are accurate.
Selecting incorrect terms will result in displaced schedules and inaccurate roster data. If you are unsure which terms to select, please consult the guidelines below or contact support.
Prerequisites
Access Level: You must have a School Admin role or equivalent permissions.
Schedule Import: The schedule import process must be completed before Active Terms become available for selection.
Updating Active Terms
- Navigate to Config > Schools
- Click on the “edit schools” pencil icon.
3. If you completed your schedule import already, you will see a dropdown available under "Active Terms." If not, you need to complete the schedule import to select Active Terms.
4. Select the appropriate terms by clicking the corresponding checkboxes.
5. Click Save School.
Configuration Guidelines
The naming conventions for terms vary depending on your Student Information System (SIS). Please refer to the specific logic for your school's setup below.
1. Standard Semester Setup
For schools utilizing a standard semester-based calendar, the Full Year (FY) term must remain selected for the duration of the academic year.
First Half of Year: Select FY and S1.
Second Half of Year: Select FY and S2.
FY = Full Year | S1 = Semester 1 | S2 = Semester 2
2. Quarterly / Term-Based Setup
If your school uses "Terms" rather than Semesters, the combinations generally follow this logic:
Full Year: Select Terms 1–4.
Semester 1: Select Terms 1–2.

3. PowerSchool Configurations
PowerSchool often uses numerical codes to represent terms. Use the following key to identify the correct selection:
