SchoolMint Hero allows you to set up and send automatic email notifications to guardians for specific Behavior Codes in your school's Hero account. The email notifications are sent to the guardian email address on file in Hero, which most often comes from your school's Student Information System.
Creating Email Notifications
To create an Email Template, navigate to Notification Templates via Config > Notification Templates.
On this page, you will see any Notification Templates that have already been created. To edit an existing template, click the pencil icon on the right side of the relevant row.
To create a new Notification Template, click the green "Create" button in the upper right-hand corner.
- On the Create page, give the template a Name & Description
-
Determine if the Body Type should be Text or HTML
- Text Body Type can be typed directly in the template (as shown in the example below). This will populate a simple text-based email with no images, logos, or additional flair.
- HTML Body Type will involve utilizing HTML code. If you have created an email template in another site (MailChimp, HubSpot, etc) and want to copy the HTML so that the email looks branded, includes specific fonts and colors, and/or aligns with other emails your school sends, you can select this option.
- Choose Notification Type from the dropdown selector: Behavior Tracking or Import Notification. If this notification is being triggered by a Behavior Matrix, select Behavior Tracking.
-
Enter a Subject and optionally utilize dynamic data
- Dynamic data will fill in relevant information into the email when it is sent. For example, if you want to include the student's first and last name in the subject line, dragging the relevant dynamic data into the subject line will populate that in the email.
- Enter text into the body of the email.
- Click Save.
